This is a slightly edited version of my keynote at https://www.hfsresearch.com/hfs-ai-symposium-cambridge-uk/ Sept 26, 2024. Thanks to @HFSResearch for inviting me.
Navigating the Future: AI, Climate Change and The Future
#thegoodfuture #next10years #techvshuman #publicthinker
In this new keynote I explore the benefits of artificial intelligence as well as the challenges, in comparison to those that we are already facing with #climatechange. Through a thought-provoking and fast-moving discourse I examine the possibilities that #artificialintelligence presents, and ponder whether it will it be 'heaven' or 'hell' aka #hellven For context, I describe the societal shifts from profit-driven goals (the 1P Economy) to a wider and more future-fit focus on people, planet, purpose and prosperity (the 4Ps). I delineate the potential benefits of AI such as cognification and augmenation, while also highlighting challenges such as ethical considerations, privacy issues general #dehumanisation, addressing the importance of striking a balance between technological advancements and maintaining human values, urging us to question what truly constitutes a 'good' future.
