Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Society | Institute for Advanced Study
Co-organized by the Institute for Advanced Study's School of Mathematics and School of Social Science, this public event featured two short talks about the ethical and societal challenges raised by the spread of AI technologies. Pedro Domingos (University of Washington) interrogated "How Will Artificial Intelligence Change Ethics?" and Mary Gray (Microsoft and Harvard University) considered "Algorithmic Cruelty and the Hidden Costs of Ghost Work." The talks were followed by a conversation between the speakers and Alondra Nelson, Harold F. Linder Professor in the IAS School of Social Science, and a Q&A with the audience.
